  1. Sebastian was actually in the first Aladdin movie when the Genie is looking up “How to make a prince”. He pinched Genie and then was promptly thrown away. So it makes sense canonically why he is there. Great find!

  2. This game was my childhood, along with Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion and Sonic and thus began my affinity for platformers. Sadly my Sega Genesis has long since died

  3. People often say that they like the Capcom game on SNES because of the better sound chip, but imo Tommy Tallarico’s genesis ost is better/ more inspired. It’s all an homage to the film rather than straight up copying the tunes over.

The BuenaVista games one on genesis also does stuff like add a scimitar, where aladdin didn’t have one in the movie, but it made for more compelling gameplay. Especially when fighting with guards, you can actually clash swords together, making the screen flash as a spark effect.

(As a sidenote, the Capcom game came second. They actually removed the scimitar as a gameplay element, making you jump on enemies instead. They still left the scimitar in the box art, though.)

  4. That and Lion King were one of the eras of my childhood that made me into the thick-skinned gamer I am today. (Yet to try Cuphead…)

  5. I wish they would put these good disney games on steam for the Sega classics games, the games they have are fun but they’re really missing out on having some good classics. Something tells me Disney has something to do with that though.

  6. I’m pretty sure this game is a game that haunted my childhood cause it had a spot I could not figure out. It was a lava level where a boulder drops down and you have to outrun it through a tunnel and I couldn’t jump the gap at the end of the tunnel and had no idea how to get past that spot.

  7. I always loved the trick in the second level where if you let Aladdin’s idle animation lean into a mickey mouse hat on a clothesline so he was wearing it, you would get a free life to appear.

  8. That’s Sebastian’s long lost elder brother… Sebastian only putting up with Tritons shit so that he can one day save his brother
